CONFUSION CONCLUSION
The reason why Cheryl Cole is still with husband Ashley is more confusing than buying a house, according to a new study.
Researchers found that the X Factor judge's decision to forgive the cheating football star is one of the most baffling conundrums of modern Britain.
It made fourth place in a list of life's 50 most confusing things, ahead of credit card interest rates and buying a house.
Foreign call centres came top, followed by 'algebra' and 'what women see in Russell Brand'.
Girls Aloud beauty Cheryl revealed this week in a magazine interview she no longer trusts the Chelsea and England defender who had a one-night stand with a blonde hairdresser.
Her devotion to love-rat Ashley was even deemed more confusing than the laws of cricket and insurance policies in the poll by price comparison site www.Confused.com.
Yesterday a spokeswoman for the company, which finds solutions for over a million confused customers every day, said: ''The nation is baffled by Cheryl's devotion to Ashley, particularly when she can probably have any man on the planet.
''Clearly everyone is wondering why she's stuck by him.
''The research shows we spend a lot of time rubbing our brows about all aspects of life from women's fascination with Russell Brand to the puzzling nature of foreign call centres.
''We help millions of confused customers to find the best solution when it comes to choosing products like pet insurance or gas providers but there are some things in life, such as crop circles and computers, that will always remain a constant source of confusion.''
Researchers polled 4,979 people between the ages of 16 and 65 living the length and breadth of the country.
The report revealed confusion also surrounds buying a house, politics, football's offside rule and religion.
Also making the top 50 was converting currency, languages, filling out insurance forms and setting up wireless networks.
Men were deemed more confusing than women with almost 17 per cent of people voting for blokes and almost 12 per cent naming ladies as the more confusing sex.
Social networking site Twitter also made the list as did Stephen Hawking's theories, Kerry Katona, poker and predictive text.
Reading a train timetable, the infamous Magic Roundabout in Swindon, London's tube network and fax machines also appeared.
