SUMMARY

We challenged the nation on their map reading skills. Research found that four in 10 people struggle to locate the nation’s capital on a map – with others admitting they don’t even know how to read a map. The news story achieved 13 pieces of coverage including The Sun and Mirror.

To accompany the news story we created a quiz that was hosted on Ordnance Survey’s National Map Reading Week microsite. The quiz was taken 27,000 times and helped drive over 4,000 uses of the campaign hashtag.

“Alongside media activity we wanted to use a quiz to engage users via social media and encourage sharing of #NationalMapReadingWeek to reach a wider audience. The quizzes are really easy to embed into websites and blogs and we were extremely pleased to have over 27,000 completions of the quiz which helped to drive over 4,000 uses of the campaign hashtag on Twitter alone.”
