Project overview

The Brief

For World Mental Health Day 2017, The Mental Health foundation needed media exposure which started a conversation about mental health in the workplace.

The Idea

The story surveyed 2,000 British workers with a targeted questionnaire developed to highlight and interrogate the nation’s attitudes towards mental health in the workplace, from both the employee’s and employer’s perspective.

The Result

The survey results were written up into a crucial national-interest story, with results that fuelled dialogue around the consequences of discussing – and not-discussing – mental health in the workplace. This story provided the cornerstone of Mental Health Foundation’s campaign during World Mental Health Day 2017, encouraging people across the country to open up about their own experiences on social media with the hashtag #WMHD2017.
