Project overview

The Brief

To support Barclays’ national campaign about fraud and scam awareness, they needed media exposure which helped to dispel the stigma attached to being a victim of these.

The Idea

The 72Point team ran three projects to support Barclays’ campaign, with this one focusing on case studies of normal people who had fallen victim to fraud or scams online. The results of a national survey were converted into a national interest story highlighting worrying facts about fraud, such as the fact that one in four fraud victims have not even told their partners what happened out of shame.

The Result

The project achieved an outstanding 48 pieces of national coverage and contributed to the success of Barclays’ £10million campaign which aimed to enlighten the public about digital safety, raising awareness of online fraud and cybercrime which costs the UK around £11billion per year.
