Celebalike

27th January, 2012

The average British man has the face of England footballer Steven Gerrard, while Lorraine Kelly is the celebrity most girls resemble, it was revealed yesterday.

The Liverpool FC legend was the typical man in the street’s celebrity look-a-like – rated by an iPhone app which measures facial contours before telling users the star they resemble most.

Plenty of the country’s men don’t quite have the look of a premiership footballer though- the second most commonly matched face belonged to shapely comedian James Corden.

And our very own Prime Minister has the third most-matched face while his predecessor Gordon Brown is just behind him as the fourth biggest celeb-a-like.

Roly-poly funny man Johnny Vegas rounds off a less than flattering top five for British men.

The results could be proof that women are the more attractive gender with Queen of daytime television Lorraine Kelly leading the charts as the most typical match for British women.

Many girls will have been delighted to see they resemble curvaceous model Kelly Brook, who came in second, while former Eastenders actress Natalie Cassidy had the third most common look.

Yesterday, Kevin Savage spokesman for the Celebalike app, which has been downloaded over 600,000 times since its launch, said: “We see so much about copying a celebrity’s dress sense or style, but it’s good to get past all that and find out which ones we actually look like.”

“Many people get told they resemble someone famous, and this is a fun way to find out for sure.

“Of course, we all have celebrities we wish we looked like and perhaps those we’d rather not be matched with – the results are always interesting.

“We’ve made over five million matches to date, and while we can’t guarantee every one of those has been flattering, the feedback has been fantastic.”

The app works using a complex algorithm through a computer program that performs high-performance face identification and facial feature recognition.

Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon finished high for the ladies, while plenty of the nation’s women resembled glamour girl Katie Price.

Blokes using the app have regularly been matched to Prince Harry, pop guru Louis Walsh and footballers Jermain Defoe and Ashley Cole.

Former Friends star Matt Le Blanc was a common feature, while many Brits had the looks of P. Diddy.

It’s a better story for the UK’s ladies, with Denise Van Outen, Myleene Klass and Katherine Jenkins featuring in the top 20.

Many were matched to Eastenders actress Cheryl Ferguson, while the more stern-looking found themselves compared to business dragon Deborah Meaden or politician Harriet Harman.

Jackie Stallone and Susan Boyle crept inside the top 20 most commonly matched female celebrities.
