Heading off on holiday was yesterday (Sun) voted more exciting than having sex by the nation's women.
Packing a suitcase and jetting off to sunnier climates came top of the study to reveal life's biggest excitements, closely followed by becoming a mum.
Having sex with a loved-one only made it into third place, followed by receiving a pay rise from their boss in fourth.
Backing a winner on the horses completed the top five.
A spokesman for horseracing body, Racing for Change, which carried out the study of 4,000 housewives said: ''We wanted to poll women to find out what in life most excites them, and we've found it's a whole range of things.
''From sex and pay rises, to winning money on the horses and romantic nights away, there's lots to excite the lives of the nation's women.
''But escaping the humdrum of daily life and relaxing and sunning yourself by a pool on holiday topped the list.
''We're not surprised that a flutter on the horses can be one of life's big excitements. When you pit your wits against the bookies and win big money then it's a great thrill.
''Royal Ascot starts this week and is a favourites' graveyard so there's no better race meeting for big priced winners that can take the bookies to the cleaners.
''With five days of fabulous racing and high fashion, it's just the place to get Lady Luck on your side.''
A surprise romantic night away with their man was sixth, while other adrenaline rushes included walking down the aisle on your wedding day, which came seventh.
Waking up to presents on Christmas Day was eighth and a big girly night out came ninth.
Passing a driving test completed the top ten.
A trip to the zoo or theme park came eleventh, while the excitement of getting onto the housing ladder and moving into their first flat or house emerged twelfth.
Simply looking forward to the weekend was enough for girls to vote it into 13th spot in the list.
Other things guaranteed to put a smile on a lady's face is their birthday celebrations (14), first date (15) and finding something in the shops that you have wanted for ages in the sale (16).
The thrill of a theme park ride was in 18th spot while getting a flirty text message finished off the top 20.
The survey found seven in ten admit that 'the best things in life are free', but a massive 83 per cent admitted they could do with more excitement in their lives.
