One in three people would donate a sizeable sum to charity if they won the Lottery, a study revealed yesterday (Thurs).
Euro Millions' researchers grilled 3,000 lottery players about how and where they would splash the cash if their lucky numbers came up.
Half said a new house would be first on their shopping list while four out of ten would buy a luxury holiday home abroad.
After splashing the cash on strangers in need, selfless Brits would then treat all of their friends and family to a big holiday.
A spokesperson for EuroMillions, which conducted the research, said: ''Big lottery winners always think about the dream house they have always wanted first, but it doesn't take long for thoughts to turn to friends, family and charity.
''Sharing their win seems to give winners as much pleasure as creating their own perfect lifestyle.
''Of course there are winners who buy all sorts of weird and wonderful things - from JCBs and flocks of sheep, to Robin Reliants and replacements knees.''
The study also found a third of people would line up a string of foreign holidays.
One in four would look into buying a new house for their parents or paying off the mortgage on their existing property for mum and dad.
The seventh most popular buy on the 'wish list' was teeth whitening.
A further 26 per cent would opt for a cottage in the countryside, while one in four would like to treat themselves to a wardrobe full of designer clothes.
Other random purchases Brits dream of making include a walk in wardrobe, a sports car, a plasma television and designer shoes.
One in six people would even ditch their jobs in favour of setting up their own business.
Half of people polled claim they like to think they would go on a big blow out the minute they won a load of money, but would then be sensible and invest and save.
Nine out of 10 people say one of their main priorities would be taking care of their family and friends, and 71 per cent would turn their home into a palace they were proud of.
