UK weather is snow joke…
Why is it that whenever it snows, Britain grinds to a halt?

Snow hit UK
How many times have you heard that question over the past couple of days following the worst snowfall for 18 years? I reckon I’ve heard it about 102 times – and I’m still counting.
The UK’s transport network pretty much collapsed as most airports, rail services and even the London Underground struggled to keep going in the snow.
An estimated 6 million people, including This Morning host Phillip Schofield, took a snow day as they couldn’t make the journey to work, and hundreds of schools were closed, giving children the day off to have some fun in the snow.
Even Lily Allen got in the act, playing in the snow in London after her appearance on GMTV.
But it wasn’t long before people starting cursing councils for not putting enough grit down on the road and moaned at airport bosses for cancelling flights.
And all across the country, the same statement was being said. How come places like Canada just keep going while Britain falls apart?
The answer is simple. We just aren’t used to this kind of weather.
Britain is a happy medium in the climate stakes. Instead of the scorching hot weather regularly seen in the Mediterranean, we get a warm, pleasant summer that doesn’t leave us to hot to do anything.
And the same goes for winter. Yes, it gets cold, but never to the extreme freezing temperatures they have to live with in places like Russia and Canada.
Snowfall like we’ve seen this week is rare and the clue is in most of the newspaper headlines - This is the worst snow we’ve had for 18 years.
Not only have we not seen snow like this since 1991, but we are unlikely to see it again for at least another decade.
So with the snow expected to carry on falling for the rest of this week, I’m going to make the most of it because I’ll be too old to build a snowman by the time we next see it fall.
